Mallorca VIII | rooftops in Palma

De laatste keer dat ik in Palma de Mallorca was ontdekte ik een nieuw fenomeen: de dakterrassen. Ik heb ze nog niet allemaal ontdekt, maar ik heb in ieder geval een nieuw doel gevonden voor de volgende keer dat ik er ben. Alle leuke dakterrassen bezoeken! Ik heb er al een paar verzameld dus die wil ik je niet onthouden.

Hotel Almudaina Sky Bar
Dit hotel is recent gerenoveerd en het dakterras is binnen no time een hot spot geworden. En dat terwijl je er eigenlijk zo voorbij loopt. De ingang van het hotel zit namelijk verstopt tussen de winkels aan de lange Avenida de Jaume III. Als je eenmaal boven bent laat je de drukte achter van het vele verkeer en geniet je van het mooie uitzicht over de stad en de Middellandse Zee. De wijnen zijn betaalbaar en je krijgt er bovendien een bakje met olijven bij.

Nakar Hotel Rooftop
Ook op de Avenida de Jaume III vind je Hotel Nakar. Dit prachtige, eigentijdse hotel heeft bovendien een top restaurant. Dit kan jouw ultieme combi zijn. Eerst genieten van het uitzicht met een heerlijke cocktail of een glas wijn (en hele lekkere hartige hapjes erbij), daarna dineren (ook met uitzicht) in het specialiteiten restaurant CUIT van chef Miquel Calent.

Hotel Sant Francesc Singular
Wat een heerlijk hotel is dit. Midden in het oude centrum van Palma. Ze gingen in 2015 open en dat jaar heb ik er een heerlijk lang weekend doorgebracht. Het dakterras is schitterend en je kijkt uit over het oude Palma. Sint Franciscus waakt daar over jou, want vanaf het terras kijk je niet alleen uit over het oude Palma maar ook op de Basílica de Sant Francesc. Je kan hier gewoon een glas wijn of een cocktail drinken, maar ook genieten van de lekkernijen van hun sushibar. Liever ‘gewoon’ eten? Hun restaurant Quadrat is ook een aanrader.

Hotel Hostal Cuba Sky Bar
Als je Hostal leest dan denk je natuurlijk meteen dat dit een jeugd hostel is. Niets is minder waar. Dit is gewoon een super gave hippe hotspot. Het ****hotel staat in de steeds leuker wordende wijk Santa Catalina (aanrader voor low profile shoppen!). Op het terras van de Sky Bar heb je een fantastisch uitzicht over de  blauw zee. ’s Avonds is het er een hippe bedoening. Wordt het donker? Ga dan eten in het restaurant beneden; lekker simpel en betaalbaar. Wat me ook nog opviel? Een prachtige granito trap.

The last time I was in Palma de Mallorca I discovered a new phenomenon: the rooftop terraces. I haven’t discovered them all yet, but at least I found a new goal for the next time I’m there. To visit all the nice roof terraces! I’ve already collected a few so I don’t want to keep them from you.

Hotel Almudaina Sky Bar
This hotel was recently renovated and the roof terrace became a hot spot in no time. And yet you actually walk right past it. The entrance to the hotel is hidden between the stores on the long Avenida de Jaume III. Once at the top you leave the hustle and bustle of the traffic behind and enjoy the beautiful view over the city and the Mediterranean Sea. The wines are affordable and you also get a tray of olives with it.

Hotel Sant Francesc Singular
What a lovely hotel this is. Right in the middle of the old town of Palma. They opened in 2015 and that year I spent a lovely long weekend there. The rooftop terrace is gorgeous and you look out over old Palma. Saint Francis is watching over you there, because from the terrace you not only look out over old Palma but also the Basílica de Sant Francesc. You can just have a glass of wine or a cocktail here, but also enjoy the delicacies of their sushi bar. Prefer to eat “just”? Their restaurant Quadrat is also highly recommended.

Hotel Hostal Cuba Sky Bar
When you read Hostal you immediately think that this is a youth hostel. Nothing is less true. This is just a super cool hip hotspot. The **** hotel is located in the increasingly fun district of Santa Catalina (recommended for low profile shopping!). On the terrace of the Sky Bar you have a fantastic view over the blue sea. At night it’s a hip affair. Is it getting dark? Then go eat in the restaurant downstairs; nice and simple and affordable. Another thing that caught my eye? A beautiful granite staircase.

Nakar Hotel Rooftop
Also on the Avenida de Jaume III you will find Hotel Nakar. This beautiful, contemporary hotel also has a top restaurant. This could be your ultimate combo. First enjoy the view with a delicious cocktail or a glass of wine (and very tasty savory snacks to go with it), then dine (also with a view) in chef Miquel Calent’s specialty restaurant CUIT.
